PROJECT 9: Jack and Jackie O'Latern

PROJECT GOAL: Students will work with layers, layer masks and special effects (fx) tools in Photoshop.
The objective of this project is to obtain a better understanding of Photoshop Adjustment Layers and Special Effects tools by adding your eyes an mouth to a pumpkin to create a Jack or Jackie O'Lantern. Teacher instruction will be provided during class time to guide you through this project. You can also watch the video below should you choose to work on this project independently. Good Luck and HAVE FUN!

Use the pumpkin and YOUR photo to create a pumpkin face. You may work at your own pace using the attached instructional video. Step-by-step instructions will also be given in class.

DOCUMENT DETAILS
Create a NEW document in Photoshop
Size: 8.3 X 10.7 inches
Color Mode: RGB
Resolution: 300

Remember you need to download your photo and the photo of the pumpkin first. Next select FILE PLACE to add both your photo and the photo of the pumpkin.
 DIRECTIONS:
  1. Download the image of the pumpkin and save to your folder in Students on FOL_DC1
  2. Open the pumpkin in Photoshop
  3. Add a photo of you to the file by selecting FILE>PLACE​
  4. Use the Elliptical Marquee tool to select the mouth. Press Ctrl+J to copy your mouth to a separate layer. Repeat this process with the eyes.
  5. Use a combination of the ERASER TOOL, MAGIC ERASER, and/or MAGIC WAND to remove everything but your mouth and eyes.
